According to a statement from Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Director-General of GHS, nine cases have been confirmed after samples were tested at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR).
The outbreak was initially detected through the national surveillance system, which found unusual cases of clinical malaria that did not respond to standard antimalarial treatments.

These cases were managed as acute febrile illnesses, and subsequent tests confirmed them as Dengue Fever.
Dr. Kuma-Aboagye has urged Regional Directors of Health Services and CEOs of Teaching Hospitals to alert all health workers in their areas about the Dengue Fever outbreak.
He emphasized the need for enhanced surveillance and proper laboratory confirmation for all suspected cases of Dengue Fever. Blood samples from suspected cases should be sent to NMIMR for confirmation.
