George Gascón, an American attorney and former police officer, is the district attorney for Los Angeles County. Gascón, a Democratic Party member and former Republican, served as San Francisco’s district attorney from 2011 to 2019.

Gascón began working as a patrol officer with the Los Angeles Police Department in 1978. After three years with the Los Angeles Police Department, he returned to work in business management.
Gascón applied for the position of Chief of Police at the Los Angeles Police Department in 2002. He wished to collaborate with community organizations to improve California’s prisoner recidivism rate. William Bratton was eventually appointed Chief of Police.

ascón is married to Fabiola Kramsky, a three-time Emmy Award-winning journalist and recipient of the “Premio Nacional de Periodismo,” the highest recognition given to journalists in Mexico.
After being elected to two terms, Gascón returned to Los Angeles to care for his elderly mother and to be closer to his two daughters and grandchildren in Long Beach.
