George Tyssen Butler was born on 12th October 1943 in Chester, England. Butler was a British-American filmmaker, photographer, and pioneer of the theatrical documentary. Butler grew up in Somalia, Kenya, and Jamaica.

Whiles in Jamaica, Butler attended the De Carteret College in Jamaica.

Butler worked as a reporter for Newsweek after earning a Master of Arts degree in Creative Writing from Hollins College in Virginia. Some of his most popular films include Pumping Iron, The Endurance, and Going Upriver: The Long War of John Kerry.

Butler has also produced acclaimed IMAX features, such as the award-winning Shackleton’s Antarctic Adventure and Roving Mars.
George Butler was married to Victoria Leiter but unfortunately, the couple divorced. Butler is survived by sons Desmond and Tyssen, and six grandchildren.
Cause Of George Butler’s Death
Butler’s unfortunate and painful death occurred on 21 October 2021, at the age of 78. Butler died from pneumonia in Holderness, New Hampshire.
