The 48-year-old has spent the last few days at Carrington examining the coaching methods of Erik Ten Hag, Steve McClaren, Michell van der Gaag, Benni McCarthy, and Darren Fletcher.

Boateng observed how the Red Devils prepared for games against Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, and Everton.
Boateng was a member of the Black Stars technical team, which was dissolved after the squad was eliminated in the group stages of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

He has since worked as a commentator for Sky Sports during the AFCON final and, more recently, examined Manchester United’s coaching methods.

In September 2020, Boateng was promoted to become the Professional Development Coach of Aston Villa’s under 23 squad.

Boateng revealed on August 26, 2022, that he would be leaving Aston Villa to focus on his role with the Ghana national team ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup that winter.

The Ghanaian-born Dutch international helped the Black Stars qualify for the 2022 World Cup while serving as their assistant coach.

Despite being born in Ghana, Boateng elected to represent the Netherlands at the international level, gaining four caps for Oranje.

Boateng made his international debut for the Netherlands in a 1–1 draw against Denmark in November 2001.
