Frank Lucas was an America drug trafficker who operated in Harlen during the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was born on September 9, 1930, in La Grange, North California He was known for cutting out middlemen in the drug trade and buying heroin directly from his source in the Golden Triangle in Southeast Asia.
According to him, he was inspired to embark on a life of crime after he witnessed his 12-years-old cousin’s murder in the hands of the Ku Klus Klan. In Harlem, he began indulging petty crime and pool hustling before he was taken under the wing of gangster Bumpy Johnson.
In January 1975, Frank Lucas was arrested in 1975 at his New Jersey home. The authorities seized more than $500,000 owned by Lucas. He was then convicted and sentenced 40 years of imprisonment.
