Ali Chiroma, a notable figure in Nigerian labor unions, passed away on April 2nd, 2024, at the age of 91. He died at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital following a brief illness.

Chiroma held the position of President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) from 1984 to 1988. Throughout his tenure, he was recognized for his unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of workers.
Even after his presidency, Chiroma remained actively engaged in the union movement.
Following his demise, leaders from various sectors paid tribute to Chiroma’s legacy. President Muhammadu Buhari acknowledged his significant contributions to both the labor movement and the Nigerian economy.
