Reports indicate that Nyantakyi, one of nine candidates contesting the election, fell ill while in a meeting with his supporters at Akyawkrom, a suburb of Ejisu, on Friday, April 12, 2024 evening.

Eyewitnesses stated that he began to stumble with his hand on his head before being assisted and promptly taken to a hospital for medical attention. A picture of Nyantakyi lying on a hospital bed with a drip attached has surfaced online.

Meanwhile, preparations for the NPP’s parliamentary primary are underway despite Nyantakyi’s hospitalization. The primary was called following the passing of the late MP John Kumah on March 7, 2024.
