Flavour Recounts Being Told to Exit Stage For PSquare

Flavour, the Nigerian high-life singer, recently shared how an experience with Psquare transformed his music career.

In an interview on the podcast ‘In My Opinion,’ Flavour recalled his beginnings as a choir conductor and drummer in church.

His journey into the music industry began when he joined a band where he spent 13 years developing his skills and eventually becoming the band leader. At that time, Flavour was content with performing at events, not aspiring to be a star.

However, his perspective changed after leaving the band and facing the harsh realities of life as a street musician. He often played long hours at local spots but noticed that established artists like Psquare could captivate audiences in just minutes.

The turning point came when Psquare performed at a venue in Enugu where Flavour was a regular. The crowd’s overwhelming reaction to Psquare’s performance made Flavour realize that creating his unique sound was essential.

Inspired by Psquare’s ability to command attention with original music, Flavour decided to transition from being just a musician to becoming an artiste.

This shift required him to start from scratch, developing his own sound and style, which proved to be a challenging yet crucial step in his career.
