Addressing social media criticisms that the region remained silent while other parts of the country actively protested, Ugezu shared evidence to counter the allegations.
In an Instagram post, Ugezu dismissed the notion that the South Easterners were absent from the day’s events. The filmmaker shared a video showcasing Igbo men engaging in their own form of protest—celebrating and expressing their views in a distinctly regional manner.

The footage features the men enjoying drinks, singing, dancing, and even hailing the President, as a form of commentary on the situation.
Ugezu’s post aimed to demonstrate that the South East was indeed participating in the protests, albeit in a manner that differed from the more conventional demonstrations seen in other regions. He emphasized that regional differences in protest methods should be recognized and respected.
“These people are protesting in their own way,” Ugezu wrote in his Instagram post.
