Nollywood director Daniel Oriahi has unveiled a sneak peek of his latest film, The Weekend.

It’s making history as the first independent Nollywood flick to grace the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

Oriahi shared the exciting news on Instagram, expressing his pride in breaking barriers. He hailed the journey from Nigeria, the “giant of Africa,” to the grand stage of Tribeca.

The Weekend had its debut screening on June 9 at midnight, marking the beginning of its journey at the festival, which wraps up on June 16. Additional screenings are scheduled for June 11 and June 15.

The Weekend

Oriahi couldn’t contain his excitement, calling it a significant milestone and thanking the festival organizers for acknowledging their artistry.

The film promises gripping drama and thrills, following the tale of an orphaned girl seeking family ties, only to uncover dark secrets within her fiancé’s seemingly perfect family.

Produced by Uche Okocha and executive produced by Babatunwa Aderinokun, the cast includes Aniunoh, Bucci Franklin, Meg Otanwa, Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey, Gloria Anozie-Young, and Damilola Ogunsi.
