Gareth Southgate has confirmed just one change to England’s lineup for tonight’s crucial Euro 2024 group stage match against Slovenia.

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, who featured in midfield in previous games against Serbia and Denmark, will make way, with Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher stepping in to partner Declan Rice.

Despite the 1-1 draw against Denmark where Harry Kane was substituted after 70 minutes, the England captain retains his starting role. Phil Foden, occupying the left side of attack, also maintains his place in the lineup.

Kieran Trippier is expected to continue at left-back, while Luke Shaw remains sidelined due to ongoing fitness concerns despite returning to training this week after a lengthy absence.

Here’s the expected starting XI for England against Slovenia:

  • Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford
  • Defenders: Kyle Walker, John Stones, Marc Guehi, Kieran Trippier
  • Midfielders: Declan Rice, Conor Gallagher
  • Forwards: Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden
  • Striker: Harry Kane

Southgate is hoping to win the game convincingly and also top his group.
