The Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, took to social media to attack the American broadcasting network, CNN, after they went ahead to release their findings from an independent investigation carried out in regard to the Lekki shooting incident.
According to the American based television channel, it was confirmed that the alleged shooting of unarmed civilians at the Lekki toll gate on the 20th of October had truly occurred and that live ammunition was used against the peaceful EndSARS protesters.
However, the presidential aide in response to the findings, took to her Twitter page on Thursday, 19 November 2020 to slam CNN’s investigative report on the Lekki shooting which clearly contradicts the statement given by the federal government and the Nigerian Army.
Lauretta went ahead to accuse the news network of lying about Nigeria to the international community, adding that the nation will not be intimidated into swallowing their false information.
“I’m not upset that CNN lied to the world about my nation, Nigeria. I’m upset that they think we are so stupid that we will swallow their lies. We won’t be bullied into believing a lie!”, she tweeted.
