The 21-year-old British wildcard battled through a dramatic encounter, ultimately losing 6-2 5-7 6-2 to an inspired Sun.

Raducanu showed resilience after leveling the match but faced a setback early in the deciding set when she slipped on the baseline and required medical attention for her leg and back.

“I’ve been managing a stiff back since yesterday. I was feeling it during the match,” Raducanu revealed post-match. Despite the injury, she bravely continued, supported by a roar of encouragement from the crowd.

However, Raducanu struggled to regain momentum, losing her serve early in the third set. Although her movement improved, she couldn’t recover, and Sun eventually sealed victory on her second match point.

The defeat means Raducanu, ranked 135th in the world, missed out on reaching her first Wimbledon quarter-final.

With no British players left in the singles draws, Raducanu acknowledged Sun’s superior play, stating, “I gave my best, I fought really hard. Her tennis was better and she deserved the win.”

Despite the disappointment, Raducanu’s spirited performance and determination have left a lasting impression, underscoring her potential in future tournaments.
