On September 27, 2023, a 17-year-old boy was charged with the murder of 15-year-old Elianne Andam, who was stabbed to death on her way to school.

Due of his age, the teenager charged cannot be identified for legal reasons. According to the Metropolitan Police, the boy will appear in court on Friday, September 29, 2023, for the death of Elianne.
The boy, who is also charged with possessing a knife, will appear at youth court sitting at Croydon Magistrates’ Court.

Elianne Andam was stabbed in the neck after getting off a bus in south London on Wednesday morning for school.
Her family paid a visit to the scene of her death on Croydon’s Wellesley Road on Thursday evening, as crowds gathered outside the police barrier and prayers were spoken.
Elianne has been described by her family has the “light of our lives”. They said she was “bright and funny” and “had her whole life ahead of her”.
