The election process has been contentious, with candidates Yakubu Fuseini and Alhassan Inusah Achiri failing to secure the necessary two-thirds majority of the 44 votes cast. Fuseini received 22 votes, Achiri 21 votes, and one ballot was rejected.
Municipal Coordinating Director Mohammed Akalifa condemned the violence, stating that the ongoing failure to elect a PM is disrupting the assembly’s operations.
