Edin Terzic has resigned as the coach of Borussia Dortmund, the Champions League runners-up, aiming to start a new era with a new coach.

There was no immediate word on Edin Terzic’s successor, although German media suggest his assistant Nuri Sahin could take over.
Edin Terzic’s last game was the 2-0 defeat by Real Madrid in the Champions League final at Wembley on June 1.

Following the match, Edin Terzic requested a meeting with the club’s senior management, revealing his decision to step down after a decade with Borussia Dortmund.

Terzic stated: “After the game at Wembley, I asked for a meeting with the club’s senior management team, because after 10 years at BVB – including five on the coaching staff and two and a half as head coach.”
Terzic added: “Everyone close to me knows that this has been a very difficult decision for me to take over the last few weeks, but after intensive discussions my fundamental feeling has not changed.”
