Irish professional jockey, Eddie Ahern was banned from racing by the British Horseracing Authority in May 2013 for his actions in five races which took place between September 2010 and February 2011. He received a ten-year ban after he was accused of passing information about the races to Nile Clement who is formerly a Premier League footballer. The idea of the information was to use it for betting on a horse to lose. He was also accused of preventing his horse from obtaining the best possible position, an offence under the Rules of Racing.
