The Electoral Commission (EC) announced a special voter registration event scheduled for August 1 to 3, 2024.

This additional registration period aims to ensure that all eligible citizens have the opportunity to register to vote. The exercise will occur at EC district offices nationwide, as well as in prison facilities.
In a letter signed by Mr. Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman overseeing Operations, the EC informed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) about the upcoming event.
The letter emphasized the importance of broadening access to voter registration by extending it to prison centers.
Quoting from the letter, it states, “The Commission will conduct a Mop Up Voter Registration Exercise at all the District Offices of the Commission throughout the country,” and “The Registration will also be extended to the Prison Centres.”
