The video depicted an individual placing a white envelope on a table before EC officials during the Ejisu by-election in the Ashanti Region.

As per the released statement, the investigation revealed that the envelope contained funds for the officials’ lunch.

The EC clarified that the person in the video inquired about their meal status before leaving the envelope and departing.

Moreover, discussions have commenced with the Ghana Police Service to launch criminal investigations.

The EC urged for calm amidst the suspension of the two officials allegedly involved in the bribery scandal.

In a press release, the commission reaffirmed its commitment to integrity, honesty, and transparency in the electoral process.

Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, Director of Electoral Services at the EC, confirmed the initiation of an investigation into the alleged bribery incident. He stressed that the investigation’s findings would determine subsequent actions by the EC.

The Ejisu by-election, overshadowed by these accusations, has raised concerns about the fairness of the electoral system.
