Fearnley’s journey in cricket began as a player for Worcestershire, where his contributions helped secure the County Championship in 1964.
Transitioning from player to artisan, Fearnley established himself as a maestro in bat making, earning acclaim from cricketing legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Ian Botham, and Vivian Richards who wielded his renowned Fearnley bats.
Beyond the workshop, Fearnley’s commitment to Worcestershire CCC was unwavering. As chairman from 1986 to 1998, he orchestrated a golden era for the club, signing talents like Ian Botham and Graham Dilley, propelling the team to claim six prestigious trophies.

Even after stepping down from formal roles, Fearnley remained a stalwart supporter, donning hats as president and honorary vice-president, cementing his legacy as a cornerstone of Worcestershire cricket.
In addition to his cricketing endeavors, Fearnley co-founded the charity Chance to Shine, further solidifying his legacy as a passionate advocate for the sport’s growth and accessibility.
Fearnley is survived by his wife and children.
