Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP, recently impressed many with his dance moves to the popular song “Lapaz Toyota” by Ghanaian musician Guru.

This happened during one of his campaign stops, where the song’s theme matched his campaign message. Dr. Bawumia, recalling his seven years as a driver’s mate, is asking voters to let him become the main driver for the nation.

During his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, he was seen dancing with motions that looked like he was controlling a steering wheel, while supporters cheered him on.

He is currently on a three-day campaign tour in the region, where he is engaging with party members, going door-to-door, and meeting with various groups and religious leaders. He will also visit the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.

Earlier this year, Dr. Bawumia announced his candidacy to lead the NPP in the 2024 elections. He won the NPP primaries with 61.43% of the vote, securing his place as the party’s candidate.

The official results, announced by Dr. Serebour Quaicoe of the Electoral Commission, showed Dr. Bawumia received 118,210 votes, while his closest competitor, Kennedy Agyapong, received 71,996 votes, representing 37.41%.
