In an interview on Onua FM on July 10, 2024, Dr. UN disclosed that he became aware of the controversy surrounding Chef Smith and the cook-a-thon only after being tagged in social media discussions.
He suggested that Chef Smith could have achieved greater success by organizing the cook-a-thon independently, rather than seeking validation from Guinness World Records.
“I didn’t even know anything about Chef Smith or the cook-a-thon saga until I started being tagged in social media discussions. I think Chef Smith should have consulted me before attempting his cook-a-thon,” Dr. UN remarked.

Dr. UN emphasized the potential for Chef Smith to establish a personal brand for the cook-a-thon, suggesting it could lead to long-term success and the opportunity to transform it into an annual event.
“If Chef Smith had done the cook-a-thon on his own (without involving Guinness), he could have branded it to be even bigger than the Guinness World Record brand. After the Guinness attempt, they would leave him, but if it was his own brand, he could continue with it and even make it an annual event,” Dr. UN advised.
Dr. UN also mentioned his willingness to provide Chef Smith with a positive citation to enhance his reputation further.
“I would give him a positive citation which could give him a standing on his own. I would even bring a High Commissioner to present the award to him to give it some credibility,” he added.
Dr. UN’s remarks highlight his perspective on branding and independence in achieving success beyond Guinness World Records validation.
