Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of the Republic and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appointed Hon. Joshua Makubu, the former Oti Regional Minister, as the Campaign Coordinator for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs.

Hon. Joshua Makubu’s appointment comes with a crucial mandate—to spearhead the mobilization and unification of Ghanaians with special needs in support of Dr. Bawumia’s vision for the nation.

In a statement released by Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign, it was underscored that Dr. Bawumia has been a prominent advocate for persons with disabilities, special needs, and the vulnerable in Ghana. The Vice President is deeply committed to fostering an all-inclusive society where the talents and energies of every citizen contribute to national development.
Since assuming office in 2017, Dr. Bawumia has championed initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of persons with disabilities. Notably, his advocacy led to the increase of the percentage allocation for “Persons with Disability” under the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) from 2% to 3%.
