With several seasons of highs and lows, the soccer team has a dense history that cannot go unmentioned. One that goes as far as over 100 years.

The soccer club was formed in 1880, under the name of St. Mark’s, after an initiative by the then St. Mark’s Church rector Arthur Connell and Anna Connell, his daughter.

They would change their name to Manchester City in 1894 after a series of name changes during seasons of notable financial troubles leading to the restructuring of the club.

In the 1930s, Manchester City reached two consecutive FA Cup finals. In 1933, however, the team lost to Everton 1933 before beating Portsmouth and claiming the Cup in 1934

Man City co-founded the Premier League upon its creation in the year 1992 but ironically finished ninth in its first season, after which they endured three seasons of struggle before being relegated in 1996.
