Luke Clanton has not yet turned professional; he remains an amateur golfer. Currently, he plays for the Florida State University men’s golf team and is recognized as one of the top amateur golfers, ranking third in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

In 2022, Luke Clanton showcased his golfing skills by winning the prestigious Azalea Invitational. The same year, he also claimed victory at the North and South Amateur, held at the iconic Pinehurst Resort.

This was the same venue where Clanton competed in the 2024 U.S. Open, finishing in a tie for 41st place, further cementing his reputation as a promising golfer.

Despite his amateur status, Clanton has been competing successfully on the PGA Tour, recently participating in the 2024 Wyndham Championship, where he made the cut and performed impressively, shooting an 8-under 62 in one of his rounds.

His performance at this level has raised questions about his future, as winning the Wyndham Championship could grant him a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour, which he could activate at any time.

However, he has expressed a desire to complete his college career before making a decision about turning professional. As an amateur, Clanton does not receive prize money from tournaments.

Instead, he is focused on his college career and competing in amateur events, such as the upcoming U.S. Amateur Championship. His current status allows him to maintain his amateur eligibility while gaining valuable experience on the professional circuit.
