Theismann spent 12 seasons with the Washington Redskins, where he was a two-time Pro Bowler and helped the team to consecutive Super Bowl appearances, winning Super Bowl XVII over the Miami Dolphins and losing Super Bowl XVIII.

Theismann was raised in South River, New Jersey, and attended South River High School, where he lettered in baseball, basketball, and football.

He was a two-time Pro Bowler and helped the Redskins to consecutive Super Bowl appearances, winning Super Bowl XVII over the Miami Dolphins and losing Super Bowl XVIII. Theismann was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2003.

As a quarterback, Theismann had a successful career. He was named the NFL Most Valuable Player in 1983 and the NFL Offensive Player of the Year in the same year.

He also won the Bert Bell Award in 1982. In his career, he threw for 25,206 yards and had 160 touchdowns with a passer rating of 77.4.

In the 1985 NFL season, he suffered an in-game catastrophic fracture to his right leg that would lead to his retirement from football. Theismann worked as a sportscaster and an analyst on pro football broadcasts with ESPN for nearly 20 years.

On the network’s Sunday Night Football package and for one season of Monday Night Football with Mike Tirico and Tony Kornheiser, he collaborated largely with Mike Patrick. With play-by-play announcers Bob Papa and Matt Millen, Theismann also served as a color analyst on NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football package. Theismann also co-hosts Playbook, a weekly program on the network.

He has been a part of the Washington Commanders preseason television broadcast crew since 2011.

He also contributes to several programs on the NFL Network, primarily as an analyst.
