From 1984 to 1986, Derek Alexander Stirling, a cricket player from New Zealand, participated in six Test matches and six One Day Internationals.

Stirling, a right-arm fast-medium bowler, debuted for Central Districts in the first class of the 1981–1982 season. On March 31, 1984, he made his debut for New Zealand in a One Day International against Sri Lanka. He made his Test debut on November 16, 1984, against Pakistan.
Stirling had a brief illness before passing away at the age of 62. Daniel, Michael, and Annie were the three children he and his American spouse Debbie had.
In 1998, Stirling relocated the family to Oregon, where they worked for Debbie’s mother’s new temporary staffing business for four years before purchasing it.

Stirling died on Wednesday morning after a short illness – a rare form of cancer.
A burly right-arm fast bowler, Stirling played six tests between 1984-86, debuting against Pakistan in Lahore, and six ODIs in 1984.
