With his contract set to expire in 12 months, Gallagher has been linked with several clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
Despite Chelsea’s efforts to retain him with a new three-year contract, Gallagher rejected their offer due to unmet wage demands.

Chelsea then pressured Gallagher by excluding him from first-team training upon returning from their US pre-season tour. Atletico Madrid then agreed to a €40 million deal with Chelsea.
However, Gallagher took several days to decide, during which two unnamed Premier League clubs attempted to hijack the move. Ultimately, Gallagher chose to join Atletico on a five-year deal.
Conor Gallagher might be very disappointed in Chelsea for letting him leave to Atletico Madrid as his dream was to spend several years at the Stamford Bridge and write his name in the history books of the London-based club.
