A former Pittsburgh Steelers draft pick, Bryant has been absent from the league for five seasons.

Despite his long hiatus, he earned a workout in Washington this week, and on Tuesday, August 13 2024 Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Commanders are signing him to a contract.

Bryant’s talent was evident from the moment he entered the NFL in 2014, with his rare combination of size and speed making him a standout receiver.

Early in his career, he showcased his potential with 76 catches for 1,314 yards and 14 touchdowns during his rookie and sophomore seasons.

He gained national attention during the 2014 playoffs with an acrobatic, flipping catch against the Cincinnati Bengals in the Wild Card round.

However, Bryant’s career took a downturn due to repeated violations of the NFL’s drug policy. He was suspended for four games in 2015 and missed the entire 2016 season.

Although he was conditionally reinstated in 2017, he violated the terms again in December 2018, leading to an indefinite suspension. Bryant last appeared on an NFL field with the Oakland Raiders in 2018, recording 19 catches in eight games.

Since his suspension, Bryant has played for the Massachusetts Pirates in the Indoor Football League, the FCF Beasts in the Fan Controlled Football league, and the Vegas Vipers of the XFL.

After being reinstated by the NFL in 2023, Bryant now has a chance to revive his career with the Washington Commanders.
