Councillor Peter Baillie, Mayor of Southampton, has been rushed to hospital in a condition that his office describes as “critical” after a crash this afternoon.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “At 2.12pm on Wednesday we attended with three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an operational commander.


“Five people at the scene were assessed and two were taken to hospital which included Cllr Peter Baillie.

“There were no major traumas. One of the people taken to hospital had a back injury.”

Southampton Police said the condition of the two rushed to hospital are critical and the other man is yet to be identified.
