Chelsea concluded their pre-season tour of the United States of America with a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid, exacerbating their defensive concerns under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Despite a promising start in the game for the Blues, defensive lapses allowed Dani Ceballos and Brahim Diaz to score, exposing Chelsea’s vulnerabilities.
Noni Madueke’s header reduced the deficit before halftime, but a goalless second half sealed Chelsea’s fate. Noni Madueke went to showcase a very good performance for the Blues.

Throughout the tour, Chelsea conceded 12 goals in five matches, highlighting significant defensive issues. Maresca has acknowledged the need to lower the defensive line by four or five meters to mitigate risks.
With the Premier League season approaching, Chelsea must urgently address these defensive shortcomings to avoid a repeat of last season’s struggles.
Chelsea will need to device a new strategy to make their defense stronger in order not to perform abysmally next season.
