Agborvi explained that they contacted Chef Smith’s team at the start of his cook-a-thon to register him since he was using their logo, but he did not comply.

This revelation has raised questions about Chef Smith’s connection with the association and his professional status in Ghana’s culinary community.

Chef Smith had recently claimed that he set a new record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, announcing on 2 July 2024 that Guinness World Records awarded him a certificate for this achievement.

However, Guinness World Records clarified in an official email that this was not true. They stated that Chef Smith does not hold the title, and the certificate he presented was not theirs.

The actual record for the longest cooking marathon is held by Alan Fisher of Ireland, who cooked for 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds in Japan from 28 September to 3 October 2023.

Chef Smith made his false announcement during a press conference at the La Palm Beach Hotel on 2 July.

His cook-a-thon began on 1 February 2024, and he cooked for 820 hours, ending on 6 March 2024, although his original goal was 1,200 hours.

The Chefs Association of Ghana has strict membership rules, and using their logo implies endorsement and adherence to their standards.

Chef Smith’s failure to register with the association has raised concerns about his use of their logo during his widely publicized cook-a-thon events.
