The Achimota District Court has adjourned proceedings in the case involving Nana Barima Ababio, also known as Benlord Ababio, accused of killing a soldier in a land dispute near Kasoa, to July 17, 2024.

The trial did not proceed as scheduled due to the absence of the trial judge, who was on leave. The prosecution requested a new date for the hearing.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the police have yet to receive the Bill of Indictment required to initiate committal proceedings in the case.
Benlord Ababio and his associate, Nana Kofi Kwakye, remain in custody under lawful detention. They face charges of conspiracy, while Benlord is additionally charged with the murder of Lance Corporal Michael Danso.
Both accused persons have not entered pleas, pending further court procedures.

According to the prosecution’s account, on April 30, 2024, at approximately 4:00 PM, Lance Corporal Michael Danso and his colleagues visited the Millennium City Police Station in a Toyota RAV4 to report a trespassing incident on land owned by Lance Corporal Abdul Omar Rahman.
Upon arrival at the police station, Benlord allegedly fired at Lance Corporal Michael Danso, causing fatal injuries. The immediate response from the police led to Benlord’s arrest and the confiscation of the firearm used in the incident.
The adjournment underscores ongoing legal proceedings as authorities gather necessary documents and evidence to proceed with the case.
