Dr. Motsepe urged players to wisely manage their finances and make smart investments for the future, highlighting the transient nature of football careers.

He recounted observing luxury cars like Mercedes-Benz, BMWs, and even Ferraris at player training grounds during his tenure as President of Mamelodi Sundowns.

While acknowledging the allure of such extravagant purchases, Dr. Motsepe stressed the need for players to allocate a portion of their income towards long-term investments to secure their financial stability beyond their playing days.

Meanwhile, CAF is contending with a dispute stemming from a recent match between USM Alger and RS Berkane in the CAF Confederation Cup semifinal.

The fallout arose from Morocco’s position on the contested territory of Western Sahara, also known as the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.

The situation escalated when USM Alger failed to appear for the second leg of the match, underscoring the complexities and political sensitivities that sometimes intersect with football competitions.
