The 52-year-old rapper, celebrated for his smooth flow and contributions to the iconic hip-hop group Dove Shack, tragically passed away due to complications from a stroke.
A Battle with Diabetes
C-Knight’s health struggles came to the forefront in the weeks leading up to his passing. On October 18, 2023, he was hospitalized due to complications from diabetes, which had been an ongoing concern in his life. This hospitalization marked the beginning of a challenging journey for the rapper, as he faced a series of critical health issues.
The Stroke and Cardiac Arrest

While in the hospital, receiving dialysis treatment for his diabetes, C-Knight suffered a devastating stroke. The stroke was a severe blow to his already fragile health, and it led to a subsequent cardiac arrest. Despite the dire situation, the medical team managed to resuscitate him. Following this critical incident, he was placed on life support.

During this period of uncertainty, C-Knight’s family held onto hope while anxiously waiting for MRI results that might offer a glimmer of optimism. Unfortunately, the news they received was heartbreaking. C-Knight’s father revealed to TMZ that the stroke had been caused by complications arising from his diabetes, shedding light on the severity of his health condition.

C-Knight will be remembered not only for the circumstances of his passing but also for his lasting contributions to the world of hip-hop. He rose to fame as part of Dove Shack, a Long Beach, California crew, which included rappers B-Roc and 2Scoops. Their affiliation with g-funk icon Warren G resulted in the song “This Is the Shack” on Warren G’s 1994 classic debut album, “Regulate… G Funk Era,” which served as Dove Shack’s public debut.
In 1995, the trio released their full-length debut, “This Is The Shack,” which peaked at No. 68 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album featured the charting single “Summertime in the LBC,” which reached No. 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after being featured in the 1995 hip-hop documentary “The Show.” The group’s debut album also showcased two songs produced by Run-DMC’s Jam Master Jay.
