Thomas Frank confirmed that Ivan Toney’s omission from the squad in Brentford’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace was due to transfer interest.
“There’s a lot going on with Ivan; there’s some transfer interest,” Frank explained to Sky Sports. “Because of all that, we decided not to involve him in the match day squad.”

Despite Ivan Toney’s absence, Brentford secured a 2-1 victory, with Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa stepping up in attack.
When pressed on whether this marks the end of Toney’s time at Brentford, Frank remained cautious: “Who knows? There’s interest, but nothing is close.”
The manager’s comments suggest a future still undecided for Ivan Toney, who remains a key figure for the Bees despite the transfer buzz.
