Borussia Dortmund have announced the signing of Brazilian defender Yan Couto from Manchester City.

The four-time capped Seleção international, who spent the last two seasons on loan at La Liga side Girona, has joined Dortmund on an initial one-year loan until June 30, 2025.
The move can become permanent if certain sporting criteria are met, according to a club statement.

“It’s a dream come true for me. Borussia Dortmund is a special club. Every kid in Brazil knows how big this club is, knows the fans, and is fascinated by the Yellow Wall”, Yan Couto said.
He added: “I can’t wait to wear the BVB jersey for the first time and experience the power and emotion in this great stadium.”
Yan Couto finished the 2023/24 campaign with eight assists, and helped Girona to qualify for the Champions League for the first time. He becomes Dortmund’s fourth signing of the 2024/2025 summer window.
