Bobrisky, the prominent Nigerian crossdresser, faces the prospect of spending the upcoming Eid-il-Fitr celebration behind bars as he awaits his sentencing.

The controversial figure, whose real name is Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, was arrested on April 3, 2024 and subsequently convicted by a Federal High Court in Lagos on April 5, 2024.
The charges against Bobrisky were brought forth by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and include allegations of naira abuse and money laundering.
While the prosecutor requested the dismissal of two of the charges, Bobrisky pleaded guilty to the remaining four counts related to naira abuse.

During the court proceedings, Bobrisky expressed remorse for his actions, stating that he was unaware of the laws regarding naira abuse and promising to educate his followers on social media about it.
Despite his plea for leniency, Justice Abimbola Awogboro has scheduled April 9, 2024, as the date for Bobrisky’s sentencing and ordered that he remain in EFCC custody until then.
However, the timing of the sentencing coincides with the Eid-il-Fitr celebration, which has been declared a public holiday by the Federal Government on April 9 and 10, 2024.
This raises the likelihood that Bobrisky will spend the holiday period in detention unless the sentencing hearing proceeds as planned on April 9, 2024
