Okuneye, facing charges from the EFCC over misusing the naira, wants the court to swap his sentence with a ₦50,000 fine for each charge.
His legal rep, Bimbo Kusanu, argues that the hefty sentence was unfair, given Bobrisky’s clean record and cooperation during the trial.

Kusanu highlights that the law offers options for lighter punishment under the ACJA. He insists that the trial court failed to consider Bobrisky’s positive attributes and speedy compliance with legal procedures.
Kusanu further stressed that Bobrisky’s willingness to admit guilt and respond promptly to the EFCC should have been taken into account.
He claims the court’s failure to do so amounts to a miscarriage of justice. Now, Bobrisky’s fate hangs on the Court of Appeal’s decision, as he seeks to overturn the ruling and avoid serving time behind bars.
