Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has been featured in the Creative Arts and Design subject of the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination.

One of the exam questions asked students to write about him and two other composers, focusing on their hometowns, genres, notable works, and societal contributions.
Black Sherif, whose real name is Mohammed Ismail Sherif, is a singer, rapper, and fashion model from Konongo-Zongo in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He gained fame in 2021 with his song “First Sermon,” followed by “Second Sermon” the same year.
His major breakthrough came in March 2022 with the hit single “Kwaku the Traveller,” which topped the Apple Music charts in Ghana and Nigeria. He released his debut album, “The Villain I Never Was,” on October 5, 2022.

Sherif attended Konongo Zongo Islamic Basic School and Pinamang Educational Complex for his junior high education before completing his secondary education at Kumasi Academy.
During his time at Kumasi Academy, he joined the Literary Group under the Students Representative Council, where he developed an interest in music and dance.
In addition to his popular tracks “First Sermon” and “Kwaku the Traveller,” some of Black Sherif’s other works include “Kilos Milos,” “Yaya,” “Shut Up,” and “Soja.”
The Creative Arts and Design subject, introduced in the Common Core Programme (CCP) for educating Ghanaian children, covers multiple disciplines, including design, visual arts, music, dance, and drama.
