Sammi Awuku, the Director-General of the Ghana Lottery Authority (NLA), has revealed that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), will announce his running mate in June.

According to Awuku, Bawumia has completed consultations and will make the announcement next month.
Awuku stressed that Bawumia is still within the appropriate timeframe for the announcement, citing past examples where similar announcements were made closer to the election.
He emphasized that Bawumia’s main rival in the upcoming election is John Dramani Mahama of the NDC, rather than his running mate.

Awuku’s remarks come amidst speculation within the NPP and among political analysts about the delay in naming a running mate. He assured that the timing is deliberate and that Bawumia is clear about his choice.
