Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has donated GH₵200,000 to the victims of the Kumasi Kejetia market fire.

The fire, which occurred on March 15, 2023, devastated part of the Kumasi Kejetia market, affecting about 50 shops, with 33 completely destroyed.
During a visit to the market on March 20, 2023, Vice President Bawumia promised government support to help the victims return to business. This promise had remained unfulfilled until now.

During his campaign tour of the Ashanti region, Dr. Bawumia met with traders at the market on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, and presented the GH₵200,000 donation to support the affected traders.
The announcement of the donation was made by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi.
