Jersey’s basketball community mourns the loss of Guillaume Hoareau, who tragically passed away during a match against Guernsey.

Hoareau, aged 40, collapsed due to a cardiac arrest during the third quarter of the game at Fort Regent in St Helier. Despite immediate medical attention, he sadly succumbed to his condition shortly after.
The Jersey Basketball Association expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Hoareau as a vital member of their community.
He served as an inspiration and mentor to both senior and junior players, showcasing his passion for the sport and dedication to its improvement in the island.

Not only was he a representative of Jersey at the Island Games, but he also coached and supported young players.
Beyond his official roles, Hoareau was cherished as a friend and brother within the community. His infectious energy, passion, and spirit brought joy and pride to many over the years.
The association extended heartfelt condolences to his wife, young family, and wider circle of family, friends, and colleagues.
In honor of Hoareau, the JBBA has canceled all training sessions until after half term, allowing the team time to grieve and process the tragic loss.
