Alexia Putellas of FC Barcelona won the women’s 2022 Ballon d’Or award. Putellas has become the first female player to win the award for two years in a row.

Alexia is nicknamed la Reina (the Queen), having won all major club and individual awards available to a European player, she is widely regarded as the best female football in the world.

As of 2022, Putellas has the second-most-all-time appearances for FC Barcelona Femeni behind former left-back Melanie Serrano and is currently their second-highest all-time scorer behind former striker Jennifer Hermoso.
England’s Beth Mead was the runner-up for the award after guiding the Lionesses to the European Championship title, with Chelsea’s Sam Kerr coming third.
