Aston Villa had to make this move for the stout midfielder after they sold Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz to Juventus to this summer in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations.
The need to replace Douglas Luiz was very necessary and Unai Emery’s preferred replacement for the Brazilian was Amadou Onana.

Amadou Onana was signed by Aston Villa in a region around £50 million and he is set to stay there for several years.
Onana leaves Everton after two years, with the Toffees making a significant profit on the £33 million they paid in 2022.
While he may not have fully met expectations at Everton, Amadou Onana was a key player for Belgium at Euro 2024, starting four matches.
Amadou Onana played alongside Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans in the Belgian midfield at Euro 2024 and their partnership will be very beneficial to the team.
