Mrs. Kumah, in an interview with Asaase Radio, refuted claims suggesting her husband’s demise was due to food poisoning.
Instead, she revealed that her husband had been battling a terminal illness diagnosed by doctors in Germany for nearly a year prior to his passing.
However, Mensah Thompson, the Executive Director of ASEPA, has strongly condemned Mrs. Kumah’s decision to publicly discuss the details surrounding her husband’s death.

Thompson, speaking on Citi TV’s Breakfast Daily, emphasized the inappropriateness of her engagement in such discussions and urged her to refrain from further comments, advising her to focus on mourning her husband.
Thompson stressed that determining the cause of John Kumah’s death should be left to professionals who would conduct an autopsy.
He highlighted the cultural norms in Ashanti tradition, pointing out that widows are expected to observe a period of mourning without making public statements about the cause of their spouse’s death.
He pleaded with Mrs. Kumah to respect these traditions and refrain from making any further public statements regarding the matter.
