Gyan, who joined the club straight from the colts level, quickly became a standout player in the Ghana Premier League.
Within a year, he made a dream move to Italian club Udinese, where he played for five years. Over his career, Gyan also played for teams such as Stade Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain, Shanghai SIPG, Kayserispor, NorthEast United, and Legon Cities before retiring.
Reflecting on his early career, Gyan shared that his signing fee at Liberty was GHc500, but he only received GHc250. He humorously mentioned that he still tells the club they owe him the remaining amount.

When Gyan moved to Udinese, his monthly salary jumped to €3,700 from the GHc100 he earned at Liberty. Later, while on loan to Modena, his earnings increased to over €7,000 per month.
Gyan noted that after the 2006 World Cup, his contract at Udinese was improved significantly as he was now seen as a valuable player.
Gyan is Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals and is the country’s second-most-capped player, having made 109 appearances for the national team.
