Republican Hutchinson represented Little Rock, the state’s capital, as the senator for District 33.

Jeremy Young Hutchinson’s Political career

From 2000 to 2007, he represented two distinct Pulaski County districts in the Arkansas House of Representatives. From 2011 until his departure in 2018, he served as a state senator.

When Hutchinson was chosen to serve as a representative for Arkansas District 31 in Pulaski County in March 2000, he officially began his political career.

He was the Arkansas House’s youngest member at the time. He sat on several committees, including the House Judiciary and Insurance and Commerce committees, and was re-elected three times.

From 2002 to 2004, he served as the assistant minority leader and vice-chair of the Joint Energy Committee, respectively.

Hutchinson announced his candidacy for the Arkansas State Senate from Pulaski County’s District 22 in August 2009. He defeated Dan Greenberg, the son of columnist Paul Greenberg, in the Republican primary on May 18, 2010, 58 to 42%.

Hutchinson later defeated Democratic nominee Dawn Creekmore in the general election, which was held on November 2, 2010, to win the Senate seat representing District 22. 2013 saw his election to the same office.
