Are Jay Z and Lil Wayne related?

In showbiz, bearing the same surnames can often get fans confusing two artists as blood-related.

American rappers Lil Wayne and Jay-Z are both “Carters”. Lil Wayne’s real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., while Jay-Z is Shawn Corey Carter. Notwithstanding, no evidence proves that both artists are related. They just share the same surnames. Period.

Lil Wayne and Jay-Z worked together on multiple tracks including Lil Wayne’s classic ‘Mr. Carter’ taken from his Tha Carter III album. Lil Wayne holds Jay-Z in high regard, despite having a history of spewing a diss at the “Jigga That Nigga” rapper over a feud.

Lil Wayne faced harsh seasons in his career in the early 2010s, and Jay-Z came to his rescue with some help paying taxes, a deed Lil Wayne was openly grateful for.

Both rappers are cool friends who give much respect to each other in the industry and their collaborations in the past have proven that bearing the same name doesn’t do the trick; it’s bearing the same goal that does.
