Baldwin, who broke down in tears upon hearing the ruling, was accused of fatally shooting cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust in October 2021.

This marks the second dismissal of the case against Baldwin. The judge’s decision followed allegations from Baldwin’s legal team that police and prosecutors had concealed crucial evidence, including a batch of bullets potentially linked to the shooting.

The case was complicated by issues regarding how live ammunition ended up on the film set. Baldwin’s lawyers questioned the investigation and pointed out errors in how authorities handled the scene.

Their motion to dismiss led to one of the special prosecutors resigning and multiple witnesses being called to testify.

Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer ruled that the state’s withholding of evidence was intentional and deliberate, rendering any attempt to rectify the situation impossible.

Consequently, the case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning prosecutors cannot bring the charges again.

In an Instagram post, Baldwin thanked his supporters, expressing deep gratitude for their kindness towards his family.
